In Jan 2025, the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) signed a collaborative agreement with COPE to produce and distribute a series of animated interactive digital version of the COPE Disaster Series as well as a recently published book on Climate Change.

These eBooks, hosted on SUSS UniLEARN, aim to enhance learner engagement by bringing to life the characters in the storybooks – through animation, music, voice-overs, as well as interactive quizzes and online activities. The COPE Disaster Series has, over the past 10 years since the release of its first book, reached an estimated 3 million children across multiple nationalities, with translations into 23 languages. Readers put themselves into the shoes of members of the COPE Squad as they travel across the globe to teach other children how to respond to various natural climate-based disasters like floods, heatwaves and landslides.

“As a learning institution, we are grateful to be given the opportunity to contribute to this amazing initiative to educate children worldwide, especially as it is endorsed by global agencies like WMO, UNDRR and UNICEF. Our partnership with COPE really draws out and showcases the creative potential and capabilities of both teams.”, says Prof Gabriel Gervais, Director, Online Learning at SUSS. He adds: “To fully realise our commitment to education and life-long learning, we are constantly looking for partners with a strong social mission…like COPE!”

Responding likewise, Mrs Martha Keswick, Author and Creator of the COPE Series says: “A huge thank you to SUSS for taking on this venture through these brilliant interactive eBooks. They bring the COPE Squad to life and will give young learners all over the world a strong sense of disaster preparedness.”

She further adds: “The teams from COPE and SUSS UniLEARN have been working very hard. We’re totally excited and looking forward to the eBooks go live!”

Watch this space: the first interactive COPE eBooks are about to go live on 16 Oct 2025, in conjunction with COPE’s 10th anniversary.
