Learn to develop children’s executive functions.
About this course
About the Course
Executive functioning difficulties are commonly experienced by children with a range of other neurological conditions which include dyslexia, Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This makes it imperative for practitioners and parents who work with these children to have good knowledge of executive functioning difficulties and learn how to better support them in this area. This 1-hour e-learning course is part of a 16-hour course aims to focus on the information that is most needed to support a child in a mainstream context. It allows practitioners and parents to appreciate the executive functioning processes that are behind the successful execution of academic tasks, delves into the implications of executive functioning difficulties on academic learning in school, and imparts practical, down-to-earth strategies that can lead to improved daily performance.
Target Audience
Target audience includes parents, social workers, counsellors, school staffs, mentoring programme coordinators, volunteer mentors and other practitioners who are involved in the support of children and youth with SEN. The e-course will improve the quality of life of these children and youth, as well as their caregivers. The e-course will enable the target audience to more effectively manage the daily challenges and stress posed by a lack of executive function skills, as well as create an effective and conducive home and learning environment that allows these children and youth to thrive.
Completion
You have completed the e-course if you have completed all sessions in the course.
