About the Course
This e-learning course will equip participants with knowledge on fall prevention among older persons. Participants will be able to recognise the various risk factors contributing to falls and learn how to implement evidence-based fall prevention strategies to reduce fall and maintain quality of life for older persons after a fall. The course will deliver a combination of content on fall risk screening, physical interventions and environmental modifications in ensuring the safety and well-being of older persons in a variety of settings in Singapore.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
  1. Define what constitutes a fall and the common types of falls amongst older persons.
  2. List the risk factors and impacts of falls on older persons.
  3. Explain the process of screening fall risks and the tools used for older persons.
  4. Describe the strategies and exercise programs targeted at fall prevention in older persons.
  5. Identify medications associated with falls in older persons.
  6. State strategies to prevent falls due to medications for older persons.
  7. Summarise the use cases and guidelines for each of the mobility assistive devices.
  8. List the tips for assisting with older persons’ movement.
  9. Apply the break-fall and fall-recovery techniques for clients.
